We like to think of Casa del Limonero as an eco house. We do provide air conditioning for our guests, though at 500 metres above sea level we find the nights cool enough to manage without.
The house is built against a hill which ensures the ground floor is kept cooler.
We have a solar panel which provides much of our hot water all year round, but there is electric back-up always on. In winter we heat the house using olive wood – a by-product of local farming. One of our woodburners has an oven which we use extensively to cook our meals, rather than using the electric oven.
